Stopping by woods on a snowy evening – Robert Frost

The Caffarella Park is a large park in Rome (almost 190 hectares), protected from development.

The area is part of the Appian Way Regional Park. The park is located in the Appio-Latino district and is contained in the Caffarella Valley and is bordered on its northern side by the Via Latina and on its southern side by the Appian Way. It extends lengthways from the Aurelian Wall up to the Via dell’Almone. It contains several items of archaeological interest, its history tracing back to the III century BC.

The park features include also a working farm, and has considerable ecological value, with 78 species of birds and fauna.

Il Parco della Caffarella è un grande parco di Roma (quasi 190 ettari di estensione), protetto dallo sviluppo urbano.

L’area fa parte del Parco Regionale dell’Appia Antica. Il parco si trova nel quartiere Appio-Latino di Roma e precisamente nella Valle della Caffarella, che è delimitata a nord da Via Latina e a sud dalla Via Appia. Si estende in lunghezza dalle Mura Aureliane fino a Via dell’Almone. Il parco contiene numerosi siti di interesse archeologico, poiché la sua storia risale al III secolo AC.

Il parco contiene anche una fattoria (tuttora in funzione) e ha un considerevole valore ecologico, ospitando 78 specie di volatili e fauna locale.
