“I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately, I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, To put to rout all that was not life and not when I had come to die Discover that I had not lived.” (Henry David Thoreau)

Rome is the city with more green areas in Europe. Although, the city seems detached from the ecological and environmental attitude of a modern and advanced city.

These shoots, where human figures – so small – are overwhelmingly surrounded by nature, suggest a new way of experiencing the urban space, far away from the stress of modern daily life and closer to nature, advocating a peaceful co-existence between these two poles often seen as antithetical.

My photographs capture the visual form of this dream with the hope to arouse in the viewer the same desire for change.
Only then, I believe, we can look at the same thing with new eyes, and appreciate them in a deeper way, recognising the immense environmental heritage of Rome – one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

When I moved to Rome, I was deeply fascinated by its parks. They are charming and mysterious in some ways. To me they were oases in the stress of Rome busy daily life.
Caffarella, Parco degli Acquedotti, Villa Ada, Villa Borghese, Villa Doria Pamphilj, are the parks here pictured.
